Gladstone is an industrial port city located on the central coast of Queensland, Australia. The city's population stands at 29,288 (2006 estimate), An additional 17,039 persons live in the adjoining Calliope Shire (Boyne Island/Calliope/Tannum Sands). Being a port city, its local commerce is primarily industrial-based and include large-scale industrial plants include alumina refineries, aluminum smelting, heavy chemicals and shale oil. The Port of Gladstone is the largest multipurpose port in Queensland. Gladstone is considered to be Queensland’s Capital of industry and as the export gateway to the states booming Coal mining regions. Further attractions: Sailing fleet, Fishing, Boating, University, Heron Island, The Great Barrier Reef, Winery, Botanical gardens, Harbor side parks & esplanades.
Boyne Island / Tannum Sands boast a wonderful climate all year round with excellent fishing & access to offshore reefs & a major fresh water Barramundi hot spot at Awoonga Dam.
